Living Alone in a Broken World: A Review of I Am Legend
Abstract
I Am Legend is a post-apocalyptic science fiction movie released in 2007. The film was directed by Francis Lawrence and stars Will Smith as the main character, Dr. Robert Neville. The movie was adapted from the famous novel I Am Legendwritten by Richard Matheson. The story takes place in New York City after a dangerous virus destroys most of humanity and turns infected people into mutant creatures called Darkseekers. Robert Neville becomes the last healthy human living in the city. He spends his days searching for food, surviving alone, and trying to discover a cure for the deadly virus. The film combines action, horror, thriller, science fiction, and emotional drama. One of the most interesting parts of the movie is the empty and silent New York City, which creates a frightening atmosphere. The movie also shows deep emotional themes such as loneliness, survival, sacrifice, hope, and humanity. Besides entertaining viewers with exciting scenes and visual effects, the film teaches people to stay strong and never give up during difficult situations. Because of its emotional story and strong acting performance, I Am Legend became one of the most memorable survival movies ever made.
